Multiplicity

Multiplicity lets you control multiple computers with a single keyboard and mouse.

If you've ever used a multiple monitor equipped PC, then you can imagine how Multiplicity works. Each monitor is connected to its own PC. When the user moves the mouse over to a given monitor, the user is then controlling that PC.

Note from Editor: This is really nifty software. I have two computers at my desk and each has it's own mouse, keyboard, and monitor. Usually when I want to work on computer number two, I'll lean over and use the keyboard and mouse. It's not very comfortable, but it's easier than trying to roll my chair that is on carpet.

I've been considering getting a switch that would allow me to hook up one mouse and keyboard to two computers. This would require flipping the switch each time I want to jump to computer number two and it doesn't allow me to copy and paste files between between machines.

With Multiplicity installed, I just move my mouse all the way to the side of the screen on computer/monitor number one and it seamlessly "jumps" to computer/monitor number two. Jumps isn't a good description because it smoothly moves back and forth between the two computers/monitors. It's a fantastic way to control two computers at your desk.

Installation was not all that easy. Because I have a firewall I had to fiddle with things a bit before I got it to work. I'm going to continue to use it through the trial period and as long as nothing terrible pops up, this will be another program I purchase.
