Default Mistakes People Make On Social Media

Hi Guys,

So I wanted to make this quick little rant here nothing too long but I hope this helps you with social media if you're new to it or struggling.

Couple of Mistakes I see a ton of business's make is

1) Not Being Consistent
I've talked to many companies who all said social media does nothing for them or doesn't move the needle for them. I would then check out their Instagram page or Facebook page and realize they don't post consistently, they would post once a week or once every two weeks!!
People follow you for a reasons so post consistently otherwise they'll forget about you and go to your competitor. So keep posting! Make it a habit!

2) Nothing Interesting To See Here People
Another killer I see is business don't post anything interesting. Stop trying to sell everyone on every post you make. People get turned off by that and will eventually stop following you. The best way to keep people coming back is post interesting stuff on your Facebook or Instagram thats related to your niche or business.
For example, Interesting pics that strikes an emotional nerve, Quotes, Videos but not Youtube videos actual videos uploaded into your Facebook page (it goes with Facebook's algorithm a lot better) Questions, Giveaways,Contests.

I tried to make this as short as possible but hopefully this helps at least one person. If you need any sort of help with your Facebook business page send me a DM i'd be happy to help you.

This is really one of the mistake which I make in my social media account. As you are sharing inputs on social media mistakes, would like to ask you one thing which is bothering me.

When I post something to my account I get followers, but after few days when I am not active I see their is drop in the number of followers. What can be the possible reason for that?

What I understood after reading your thread is one of the reason can be inactive account, please correct me if I am wrong. Other than this what else can be the possible reason?

Hi Christi,

So yes that's the mistake I see many people make is they do paid ads and bring in new people to their Facebook page and they think that's it.

So what happens is when you go to post new content on your page days or a week later you get zero engagement on your post. Reason is they forgot you or they unfollow you simply because they either think your a dead page or just to inconsistent with your posts.

Think about this they followed you for a reason, so give them a reason to stay and give them a reasons to keep coming back to your page.

Hope that helps! If you need me to take a look at your Facebook page just send me a private message on here.

- Louie

Thanks Louie for sharing your experience, and I completely agree with your suggestion - "Give them a reason to revisit your page". Even if I follow some page or account and I don't find anything interesting I just Unfollow them. And same thing is happening with my page as well ;P.

I started being active on the page and yes it helped to have consistent increase in the number of follower and increase engagement rate as well.

I agree with #1. We use social media management software to be consistent. But if you don't check on your social media consistently, it still won't work

Egzacly! People want to see just digits, nothing more They are terrified about low traffic on they sites, but later when pay adds will give them what they want, they just give up.

Great points raised!

I would just like to add that businesses should also connect with their partners and make use of tagging options. This is pretty basic but it can increase brand awareness.

I completely agree with you and thanks for sharing your experience. I think you have to give some reason to people visit your page again and again. When you post something to your page you get more followers, but if you don't post any new thing in your page then obviously loose your followers because peoples want some interesting on daily basis.
