Default Dmoz

The famous DMOZ directory will close on 14th March, 2017, surprised it has taken this long to be fair, I for one have long since forgotten about DMOZ. The NOODP tag will remain out there for a while yet.

Does this mark the end of an era where humans viewed websites over robots?

Ha, it'd be kind of funny if it popped and was listed suddenly March 13th only to have the directory close on the 14th. Not that anyone would ever notice. doh. final stats at dmoz.

Yes, RIP DMOZ.

I think it's been on life support for a long time now. They just didn't want to pull the plug.

Years ago (around 15) I submitted a few of my sites. One of them finally showed up after a couple years. Unfortunately, it was just before I shut the website down
(Hmm, I wonder if that site is still listed?)

Yes its a really a bad news but it shut down due to AOL is no longer wishing to support this project. DMOZ work for 19 years.

Definitely RankBrain doesn't run Google its only an artificial intelligence to help the search engine find the best and the most related query for the users.

Rankbrain does not run Google rather it is an algorithm learning artificial intelligence system. The use of Rankbrain by Google was confirmed on 26 October 2015.
