The whole point of using a CMS is for people that don`t know how to code to be able to create a website....so no, you don`t need to know php to work on WP

For blogging, wordpress is perfect.

I love it since I am not a pro in web designing/coding/etc. I can just download plugins to do the tricks for me. I don't have to deal with too much codes for most of the time.

In other words, it is user friendly. Plus, it works pretty well with SEO.

I love wordpress because wordpress has more user friendly options & can be managed easily. So I love wordpress personally.

When you are using wordpress you don't have to know any coding at all. If you need a contact form just need to donwload plugin, the same with payments, slide show and so on. If you learn PHP you can get a better pay job. You will learn code and you be able to create everything you want.

PHP is one of the scripting language, easy to implement other programming language. When WordPress is CMS language which is fully written code in core PHP.

Both PHP & WordPress useful for every developer, simply they are dependent to each other.
