Default Is There Still Value In Blog Commenting For Building Links?

With all of the Google changes that have been slapping people for spammy links I'm curious what your take on blog comments are. Obviously reading new and relevant blog posts helps to keep you updated on the latest trends in your niche and blog commenting is a way to create community and build relationships.
However, do you use blog commenting as a linking method? If you do, how do you use it? Are you finding it successful? Do you use your name for the name box or do you use a keyword, or some combination of both?

Blog comments are still highly useful both for SEO and building your brand. It engages others in the conversation while it's happening, showing you're a leading expert in the niche.

If you provide a link, make sure it's contextually relevant and adds value to the conversation.

CAUTION - link text should be generic:
-your company name
-your website name

Google will penalize you if you link too much using a keyword in the link text. Save "keyword links" for a select few high-quality articles on solid sites.

Blog commenting is one of the oldest process in SEO for ranking the sites in search engines. People makes spam by using this tactics and posting some irrelevant comment in blogs. This has not helpful in ranking the site anymore. Also, most of the blog is allowing only no follow backlinks. This has nothing to do with SEO.

If you really want to be benefit from blog commenting, just pick the blogs with high page rank and post some quality comments and plays your site links over there.

Just have a link at the bottom of the comment back to your website. It is fairly straightforward.

What about blog commenting on the nofollow news websites. They usually are of high authority?

Great question, this is something I have been wondering for a while. I have not done much blog commenting since the big algorithm changes. It sounds like everyone is in agreement that it still helps so I will get back on it. Thanks!

Blog commenting is a good tool to absorb human traffic into your site. By posting comments on blogs related to your niche, there is a good chance you can attract prospects who might be interested in your products.
