Facebook loves to change things up and keep us on our toes, and you have probably heard that they’ve done it again. Recently, they announced that Pages would be getting a layout makeover, and they offered a preview period for Page administrators to test it out. However, today marks the end of that preview window, as the new layout has now become mandatory.
What does this mean? Here are three of the more important changes (as I see it!) that have occurred and how you can best take advantage of them for your small biz:
1) Use Facebook as Your Page: This was a long wished-for change for many of us! You can now post on other Facebook Pages AS your Page if you choose—and switch back to posting as your personal profile when you’d rather do that. The best thing about this? More exposure for your Page means more Likes for you--woohoo!
2) Get Notifications: Previously, the only way to know when someone had interacted with your Page was to actually go there and view it. Now, when you check off “send notifications” under Your Settings in your Edit Page dashboard, you will receive an email anytime you receive a comment or post on your Page.
3) Showcase Photos: Similar to the recent changes in personal profiles, you now have a section across the top of your Page to showcase your photos.
Although at first this might seem irrelevant to most business owners, it can actually be used quite strategically. Have you been networking at live events? Speaking to groups? Meeting up with influential “movers and shakers” in your industry? If you’ve got pics, show ‘em off here. It’s a subtle but powerful way to position yourself as a well-connected business owner on-the-go.
