Default Find Twitter Followers?

Has anyone used Twollow or other services of that type to find targeted Twitter followers? If so, do they work?

Default Twellow, Yes

I have used Twellow.com. It is very good. I have also used search.twitter.com and then typed in terms. My best tool is hootsuite.com where I can create categories and lists to track people of a certain niche. If your business is local, you can also do an advanced search from search.twitter.com and enter in specific geographic areas, along with the term you are looking for.

Watch the trending topics list on the main twitter page too. This is a great way to join conversations if the topics are an area you are interested in. These are the active users and you can get some great conversations going to make Twitter more fun to use.

Let me know if you want more info, it can work well when applied correctly, would be willing to help you out

Default Don't use cheap tricks...

There are a lot of ways but some should be avoided. Some companies will actually sell you Twitter followers (not sure how this is even supposed to work). Others let you get free Twitter followers by allowing them to send a very spammy link from your site every 4 hours. These are horrible ways to get uninterested followers and ruin your entire reputation in the process.

Good advice Kalen. Thanks. I would be mortified if someone started spamming on behalf of my business.

Some nice advice in here. I always argue for quality over quantity. Most of my Twitter traffic comes from re-tweets as opposed to tweets.

If the right handful of people RT your content, you've done the right thing.

Be relevant.
Be interesting.
Use hashtags.

I never use that, I'm using twitter karma, it is a tool helps me track my follower and following.

It's a real shame twitter doesn't provide geo-specific search...
