Default Twitter - The Way Of The Future?

I'm not sure what to think about connecting link building and twitter. Is it something that should be used now and is already established therefore being a good method, or is it something that still needs some time and I could wait on? Thoughts?

Twitter is only getting some strengths and I think in future we will have more opportunities to work with it.

Twitter links are nofollowed. So don't look to Twitter for direct SEO benefits. You may get indirect SEO benefits of dropping links in Tweets if you have lots of followers and some of them decide to link to your URL from non-Twitter sites.

Use Twitter to drive traffic... Think of any indirect SEO benefits you receive as just gravy.

I agree- Twitter is not good for direct benefits, but it is good for linkbuilding which is a very important part of SEO. Twitter has been hugely helpful in our company's social marketing though as it allows us to follow our customers and let them keep up with us. It also helps drive traffic to your website because you can post your recent blogs and such.

Twitter may not have direct seo benefits, but it still has benefits in other ways. It helps you overall online presence and it allows you to connect with others. I was quite dismissive of it thinking that it won't apply to my main business (which is a localised service business), but then I connected with a few people locally through Twitter, which led to face to face meetings. So, now I see it as a tool amongst many. Just another way to meet potential new clients.

However, the only negative, I would add is that, social networking, or marketing, requires a lot of time investment - most of forget how much. If you put a value on your time then it can be very expensive.

Default A Great Idea for Twitter Links

Hi,

I have an idea for making the most out of your Twitter links. I saw this and have been meaning to add it to my links on Twitter.
It is called TwitterSplit, and what it does is add a banner (of your creation) to the left side of the page when you give a link in your Twitter.

I agree. I use twitter purely to drive traffic to my website and build business relationships. I don't feel there are any immediate benefits for SEO purposes.

twitter basically helps in building connections, blogging, article posting etc which can have links back to a site. so in a way this does help in search engine optimization.

twitter does not give any benefit for links but for networking with people in same business it is really good platform. Also we can expect traffic from twitter if we have quality network built there..

I agree Twitter is a networking tool and any SEO benefit you may gain will be indirectly, from the relationships you build on Twitter.
