Default Remote File Collaboration

We're a small Chicago-based company also with an office of 3 staff in Manila, Philippines. As an example of our challenge, in Chicago we update an EXCEL file with product specifications and then email the file to Manila to be updated with costs. They then update the file and email it back to us. They often also keep a copy there. We have been adding a datestamp to the name of each file to keep track of different versions, but this is not desirable for many reasons.

Recently we started to use Google Doc's spreadsheet instead of passing an Excel file back and forth. The Google Docs spreadsheet seems to work pretty well except for a few challenges (limitations on size of spreadsheet for example), but what we learned from this test is that having a way for both Chicago and Manila staff to edit the same file has been very productive.

We now hope to find a way to do this for all our files (80G). I am not overly concerned about back-ups and security, so we explored putting everything into Google Docs (they can now accept any file type, as I recall seeing), however, the time to upload our files (80G) seems unrealistic. We did a test for 600M of files and it took one full day to upload.

We've considered:
Google Docs - could work if we upload only our critical files - probably 3-5G
Sharepoint - seems to require a lot of IT support for a server, etc - and we want to keep IT support at a minimum since we are small company
DropBox - this works well only for single user since multiple versions of a file are saved when there are conflicts

We're open to any ideas or experiences to solve this.

http://www.sharefile.com/ is a very good solution for what you're looking for.

zilog,
Thanks very much for your information, I have checked that website, but still I cannot find any information about sharefile dealing with online collaborative editing. Can it support online editing without downloading the files to my local PC?
