Thanks for the good tips. I think that tip #5. Write the Way You Talk and #8. Always Sell Benefits, are really important to keep in mind. I've found those two things to be the most challenging with my own articles, but now that I know what to focus on, it should help me to improve my articles.

Default Taken action on your advice!

OK
So we're implementing these changes to our payment pages today:

- headline -.. not too relevant for this page

- focus tightly on benefits ( now almost ignoring features entirely )
- Added testimonials
- Added a money-back guarantee ( which we always do anyway.)
- Added our awards as a PS type thing - to help reassure and provide confidence.

Lets see how it impacts on conversions - I'll let you know!
Damian

P.S. The site is babycad.com - its a cool webservice where you can design trade show booths (there's a free trial) would be very grateful to hear your opinions!

Thanks for the tip. It's totally helpful. However, I could not help but wonder, is it really proven as effective?

Hi David,

I enjoyed your article. I am surprised on the short versus long copy point. I would have thought the internet was more suited to short copy however I will take your word for it.

I think the points on testimonials and guarantees are extremely important. People need to feel comfortable when buying something online and seeing that someone else has done it before them is very encouraging.
