Default What Do I Need

Hi, I have a business in mind but before I take the plunge, I would like to hire someone to tell me whether my business will be profitable in this area based on criteria like traffic, demographics or other criteria that I might not have even thought of.

What kind of professional do I need to hire for this? thanks.

An accountant may be able to help you with that, or at least point you in the direction of someone who can. In particular, try to find one that has direct experiences with similar businesses as yours and you may find they are familiar with the stuff you are not aware of.

You probably have to do market research. You can do it yourself, or hire some temps to do it, or engage a market research company.

Default Part Time CFO

I like the suggestion for some type of marketing consultant, but also a part time Chief Financial Officer may be able to assist you on the pitfalls and santraps you may encounter in starting a business

Another option is to go to your local college or university, and talk to a prof in the business department. Offer your business as a case study. Lots of marketing students would love the challenge

I guess you can do it yourself by analysing the information and the statistics about the region, reading the papers and watching local TV. If there's a demand for your business or you have some competitive advantage - then you should give it a try.

If you are located in a medium to large city in the United States, look for and take advantage of SCORE - Service Corps of Retired Executives. They will pair you up with a retired business person who can help you with some of your questions and refer you to other sources, such as Small Business Development Council to get further assistance.

SCORE provides their service free of charge, leaving you more money to pay for the professional legal and financial advice you may need to launch your business.

you need either a market research or business consultant to do market research. Given time you can do this on the Internet yourself; however a market research firm will be able to do it quickly and efficiently for you.
