Default Testimonials?

Do you think it's a good idea to post testimonials on your website?

Testimonials serve as a mean to convince customers about the use of the products. This can help remove some of the fears that people may have about trying your products. Definitely recommended but it should be genuine.

I think testimonials works, but, better yet, if you could link the testimonials to their websites, it is much better and convincing.

Say, if you have partners or customers, linking their testimonials to their own site, helps a lot

I have never thought on that. This can indeed be effective. Usually I ask my clients to provide some feedback and then place it on the site. That's all.

I think most users are a bit sceptical about them and don't trust testimonials.

Testimonials are good, but be sure not to create fake testimonials. Having testimonials can let your potential customers know that your products are tested and proven working.

I do not agree with you as testimonials help to deal with some of the perceived risk. However it is important that the testimonials are not fake.

Well, you could make a split test to compare a sales page without testimonials and one with and see which one converts best.

I've never tried that, myself, but my gut feeling is that testimonials do work. They work even better, I guess, if you can show that they are real, and not fake, by adding a picture and a URL (not clickable) to the testimonial.

Testimonials DO work. But only if they are good testimonials. The ones that say simple things like 'Great job! You are the best!" are BAD for your site because they are self serving statements. It's like, what else would you say?? Right??

Now, when you get a customer to tell you how they felt BEFORE they purchased and how your product or service SOLVED THEIR PROBLEM, people will relate to that. I promise.

There is a method of getting testimonials because 99% of the time when you ask a customer for one, they say 'yes', but never send one. Why?? Because they don't write testimonials! They don't know what to say! Not saying they are dumb, but just that they get overwhelmed.

There is a neat way to get testimonials that works every time. Let me know if I can help you!

Good luck!

Testimonials are an avenue of promoting your business that should not be ignored. It doesnt have to be the main focus of your product pitch but I wouldn't leave it out completely. I find that not what matter what form of promoting you do for your business or product it will appeal to at least one group of people and that could lead to more green in your wallet.
