Thumbs up Knee Deep in Local Marketing and Willing to Help

I have been "knee deep" in local marketing so I'm glad this forum is here. Looking forward to getting new ideas, but more importantly I'm here to help anyone that's needs advice on how to get done for themselves and others.

I own a small T-shirt business based in the Bay Area. I have been trying to find a good place to market but I haven't been able to find one. If anyone has any suggestions they would be greatly appreciated.

I would contact the local High Schools in the area, speak with the coaches about doing fundraisers, schools always need additional funds, and the exposure will be great for your business, give them an excellent price, the quality will sell the product, and most kids involved in sports at school are also involved in after school sports as well, which can lead to little league sales.

Also the local flea market offer to the vendors to sell your product on consignment, this takes away the risk, but builds your market brand, this is what you want for long term success.

Hope this helps, and Much Success with your business.

First of all, thank you for the suggestion. The flea market suggestion was great and I'm definitely going to bring it up the next time we have a meeting. We have tried the High School idea before and it has worked out greatly. We still sell to clubs in the school and a lot of the kids love to buy our shirts. I was also wondering if you knew anything about selling at larger businesses like Hot Topic or even something as big as Wal-Mart.

Really good idea! This move proves once again that local marketing is becoming more and more important in the general field of online marketing; and, as such, it needs well-defined concepts and theories. Better to have them in one place.

Smartphones and Google Places (aka Google Maps) are dramatically changing the local marketing landscape. These stats were recently shared by Google at SXSW Interactive:

1. Google Maps usage is 40 percent mobile

2. Google Maps has 150 million mobile users

3. Google GPS saves drivers 2 years everyday with route around traffic directions

4. Google Hotpot currently has 3 million ratings

5. 20 percent of Google searches are for local information

Every business serving a local audience should claim and optimize their Google Places page -- your customers are using their Smartphones and Google to find you!

Great idea. There is a lot of info out there, and I think this can be a great place to discuss options.
For brick and mortars, online marketing is growing in importance, as is presence on social media and targeting mobile devices.
Look forward to the discussions.

Absolutely, that means optimizing web pages for mobile devices, and using location based services .
By next year, more people will be accessing the web through mobile devices than desktops!

I'm new to the forum world, tho not to internet marketing or marketing in general. I'm looking to connect and network w/ entrepreneurs and small business owners. I like to believe I have a movement, and that would be promoting and fighting for the growth of small businesses and for American businessess to be American again. I'd love to see a conscious awakening of the American consumer to supporting local businesses again.
