My indicator of spam is one line posts saying something along the lines of I agree or me too sort of posts - often with poor English and from a member with less than 10 posts.

Thumbs up

i found many a times, there are repetition of a discussion, which is already ongoing. Member changes the pattern of posting or even take out something internal. Which actually is already ongoing discussion. This is of not much value and just looks like increasing post count.

Hello shivshakti, thank you for taking the time to share that! I agree and think it is fair to say. I will keep it in mind as we move forward, and try to crank down a little bit more in that area.

My own perspective is that it is an issue. But it hasn't gone unnoticed. While we try to keep a welcoming attitude towards new members, that often means giving them some leeway as they begin using the forum. Unfortunately, those posts that don't add value are a nuisance to visitors. At times, I will give people a chance and then I have some easy methods of quickly removing a members previous posts if they are just posting me too type answers with no added value.

If you are interested, please feel free to report any posts that you believe do not add value. Just make a comment in the report like "doesn't add value". I will always check not only that members post reported, but also their previous history and remove all of their posts that don't add value.

Thank you again!

But, sometimes, I want to say, "Me, too!" as a way of encouraging a commenter or just letting them know someone read what they wrote and they agree.

Otherwise, we make a comment and could have 1,000 people agree and none disagree but have nothing further to add, so we finish up thinking either no-one agrees, no-one read it, or no-one cares.

Perhaps a "like" button (a la Facebook) would serve to "agree but no further comment."

That's a valid point, and there is someone behind the curtain actually watching. For example, a new member who posts only I agree/me too posts is going to get zapped. On the other hand, a regular member who does occasionally on relevant threads ... those stick. Nonetheless, agree a way to bring the cream of the crop to the top is needed and me toos don't always serve that purpose. Just my 2 cents.

Not all, I didn't see it either until you mentioned it. It's above the thread posts.
