Default Big Companies SEO Methodology?

I wonder if anybody is working for any big names in online marketing or digital marketing and can share the methodology of their work culture here..

If I were a big and successful online marketing company I would never tell you the secret of my success or, as an alternative, I would sell it for money.

Would never tell either. But, I think SEO is all the same - bigger companies just have more resources to throw at it.

My suggestion - do a web ssearch and compile all the SEO items that you can. Rank them based on what you think will work - then start trying them. if one does not work, scrap it and try another.

I am not a big SEO company but this method works well for me.

Give Google a lot of money..

Think about it, I search for a business on google and google gives me a link to yellow pages...

If I wanted to look in yellow pages I would have gone to yellow pages and done a search on their site....

But if I am yellow pages selling premium listings on my site.. I am going to promote the fact my site is on the first page of Google...

Give google a share of the proceeds and I will be on the first page.

Google is a company interested in making money. They are not nice, if they were their webmaster tools would not be such crap... They are a for-profit company and they will sell placement in organic results..

Just like wall-mart prices for a lot of items are more expensive than other retail outlets now... When you have the power to not leave a cent on the table... you won't.

From my experience bigger companies often get it very wrong and seem to know less about SEO than you could ever believe.

Can somone stop this pammy crap.

unfortunatly at lot of the traditional media agencies know jack about internet marketing.

I would not get them to do it for me....ever. They overcharge and do a bad job.

I would learn it yourself or do some market research into what people charge.

People offering to sell their SEO secrets make me smile. If you were the bee's knees at SEO would you tell anyone!? Maybe your own family ...

Sites that do very well (traffic stats tell it all?), have every page indexed (compare Yahoo and Google results to find out) and NEVER mention SEO know something special

Google's own advice is a good starting point, really ...

According to Google, this is not how they operate. They are quite adamant that their organic listings are NOT for sale.

Do you have any proof of this? (Proof doesn't mean a gut feeling or some anecdotal evidence based on observations of a handful of sites.) If you do have something that would stand up in a court of law, I'm sure there are several states Attorneys General and quite a few federal prosecutors who would be quite interested in hearing from you.

Otherwise, it might be wise to be a bit more careful to make the distinction clear when you're stating your opinion versus a provable fact.
