Add Php To Existing Html Pages

I know how to make changes to .htaccess file to get server to handle .html pages with php code.

. Which is good news for me - because it's exactly what I need to do, and it ain't working!

Could a kind soul please show the htaccess example here, so that it's easy to find?

dunno, haven't done myself. i started with php for all mine. but can you post the code you have tried here and we'll try to help along. in the mean time i'll nudge robert to give him the heads up to post when he gets a chance.

i could make some php pages from scratch, which will help, but being able to include recent posts, recent comments, etc in a form other than javascript (I.e. in a form that spiders read the links, rather than just the feed url) makes such a difference. Once upon a time Blogger used to do this - i guess it was just too dammed popular!

First, be sure and back up your .htaccess file so if something goes haywire you can quickly put the old one back. Messing with the .htaccess always makes me nervous so be very careful.

Here is what I have near the top of my .htaccess file:

removehandler server-parsed .html .htm
addtype application/x-httpd-php .html .htm

BUT ... the memory is going and I can't recall if any changes on the server were needed. Hopefully some hosting pros will jump in to clear that up.
