Default What Is A Back Link?

Hi, I'm new here and also very new to internet marketing...and I'm not familiar with the term 'back link'. Could anyone tell me what it is?
Thank you

A back link is a link from another web page pointing to the page you're working with.

Technically, back links come from any other page, including pages on the same domain as the page you're working with. Today, though, many people generally use the term to refer to links that come from "outside" domains. They tend to use the term "internal link" to refer to links from pages on the same domain.

HTH!

I think I understood what a back link means and thank you again, but what does HTH mean?

Well HTH means Hope That Helps.

I was going to add that Yahoo uses the term inlink for what Google calls back link. That leads to the term outlink which is a hyperlink from your web page to some other web page. You can even use the term back link instead of outlink. In other words, back link has a slight fuzziness about it. That is avoided by using inlinks and outlinks.

Backlinks (or back-links ) are incoming links to a website or web page. The number of backlinks is one indication of the popularity or importance of that website or page. SEO is the best technique to increase the number of backlinks.

this means that you can put your url in your articles so that when people read your articles they can just click the keyword and that connects to your main site.

You're right, but I think the notion of a back link is wider. It can be also possible to leave your url on other sites so that their visitors can also click your url and visit your page.
