Yell & Google Adwords

Hi

I have just been called by Yell for my Father's business who claim and I quote

"we are an independent approved company who work with Google on their sponsored adwords"

I said I didn't believe them as I was not aware of 5 companies in the UK who were linked to Google in this way, surely it would have made headlines?

I am still not sure this is true but as Google have changed their phone numbers I cannot even call them to check this out, I have twittered at Google but I doubt they will give a stuff

What do you think? Rubbish or bordering on the truth?

Since they are talking about Adwords/sponsored listings, I would assume they are referring to this: Google Advertising Professional

Just a process to go through which you can do yourself as well.

If they are claiming this, I think they must have go through some kind of course offered by Google for this purpose. Link given by Administrator should help you to get an idea about this.

They should be a third party company doing Google Adwords work to promote your business. They do the work for you to create Google Campaign in Adwords. Do what you can do on your own if you know how to do it.

It sounds like they're just using AdWords because really in a sense we all "work with Google's sponsored search" when we use AdWords or AdSense. It's the same thing you can do yourself, though they may be able to do it better if they have a lot of experience with it and you don't. But they're sure to give you some very high prices for their services.

They are nothing but a SEM firm who have excelled in google adwords and may have been certified by google on the basis of the test and their adwords track account......and nothing more..

You can directly request "Yell" verify their Google Adwords affiliation status to you. Or, given that your father has an online business, you can inquire with Google if you have an Adwords Account. If you don't have a Google Adwords account, you can set up one for free at http://www.adwords.google.com. To set up a Google Adwords Account, you don't have to place any AdWords advertisement with Google if you don't want to. Further more setting up a Google Adwords account will allow you to closely review site analytics (visitor statistics) directly.

Thanks guys, I thought so, we of course did not go ahead and use them but it annoys me when these companies call and claim to be under the umbrella of Google, it is just wrong and mis-leading those who don´t know about Google Adwords and how it all works

I think it is misleading and like @Logan said they are just using the fact they have a member of staff that has the Google Adwords Qualified certificate which anyone can achieve providing you get all the questions right of course.

This type of advertising is really "Saddam Hussein" (cockney rhyming slang for pain btw for us here who are not from the UK
