Default Owning PPC Slots

I am working with a local auto repair shop and have set them up with a PPC campaign. Their competition is paying for an ad campaign pointing to their site and to their yellow page online ad. This way they get 2 sponsored results in the listings.

Has anyone else tried this with success?

I am going to answer assuming that you are in Google Adwords.

You can not setup two groups within one campaign to do this because Adwords would select the ad from only one group.

You might be able to do it with two separated campaigns. If Google does not show both ads, try two different Adwords accounts.

I think pointing to yellow page is not a good idea so create another landing page so you can do split tests and check conversions.

Regards,

Jose

I agree that this might not be the best idea. You don't really have as much control with the content on the Yellow pages landing page and you will not be able to test conversions, which in my opinion is the biggest issue I see with most clients' PPC setups - i.e. no conversion tracking!

The yellow page ad should be receiving some good organic traffic - I would concentrate on PPC going to your client's website/landing page and working on split testing different aspects of that.

Pointing to a Yellow pages ad may let the potential customer search in the same category and find competitors as well. Not a good idea.

I do agree with the last two guys. It's not the best idea to add in Yellow pages. There are a lot of much more interesting ideas.
