Default Links To And From Landing Pages

I recently had my site rebuilt and in terms of ranking have been very successful(no.1 on google for my main search term, handcrafted mirrors).I asked my web guy to do 2xlanding pages for me for 2 of my main artwork categories and they went up about 2 weeks ago.Google has cached the site twice since then but have not indexed them at all,in fact i don't even think they found them. When i asked my web guy about this he said he had not linked from the site to the landing pages, only the other way.He said google will find the pages eventually. This does not seem right to me.We submitted an xml? site map when we did the main site,i am now wondering whether i need a regular site map linking to the landing pages.Does anybody have an opinion on this?

I am not able to understand your question completely but will try to answer few things which might help you:

1. If you have changed web page names or have added new pages which were not earlier in sitemap, its good to generate a new sitemap and submit new sitemap.

2. If the URL names are name and you just updated the content on those URLs then yes Google will eventually index those pages. If you want to speed up this process you might bookmark these new pages or just add links to these pages from other pages on web.

3. Google take sits own time to update various pages. Also it has servers across world and all servers are not updated at same time. It takes sometime to synchronize all the data. I would suggest give it 2-3 weeks.

Default Hi

great post by sahota.

A quick fix can also be done by:

Go and create a Squidoo lens. It does not have to be anything fancy; just write something about your website and link to the sites you want to index.
Don’t just paste links as it will be deleted as soon as you submit it.

Squidoo has so much content appearing every day that Google spiders start crawling it every 12-13 min. so by creating a lens Google will spider your pages in less than 30min. they will not appear in search engine right away, might take a day or two.

Important though is to update your sitemap on your website asap.
Good luck

Alem

Sahota,i posted a reply earlier to your reply but i think the moderator vetoed it because i put my url in it.Sorry i wasn't clear enough but the whole thing is a bit confusing for me because i am not a web dev person. The landing pages use my site url/dragons and url/mirrors.It is a wordpress site and when i asked my guy if the landing pages were part of the wordpress site he said they were in a subdomain? When i asked if there were links to them from the site proper he said no.Does submitting a new xml site map mean that i don't need links to the new pages, does that site map in effect create links to those pages or should i just do a regular site map.Regards Ron.

I still can not understand it fully as i never used wordpress platform for publishing a website. Anyway seems like you are just facing problems related to getting your pages indexed. Just do 2 things:

1. Make sure you link to these pages from other pages of the website.

2. Submit updated sitemap so that any new pages are index. You can check in your current sitemap, does it contain the pages you want Google to index.

3. Create some links to this page from various websites as suggested above by few e.g. Squidoo , Digg etc ....You will just need 2-3 entries in social bookmarking websites for getting your website indexed.

I really hope this helps.

Yes,you have answered my question, which was do i need links to my landing pages from my site and the answer is obviously yes.My web guy had been telling me that i did not need to do that.I have submitted the pages to digg and i am working on the squidoo lens which was a great suggestion which is going to take me into a whole new area-very exiting for me.I will do the site map also.
Many thanks to you guys, happy business,Ron.
