Default Which Of These Get The Most Backlinks?

Hi,

I'm doing some SEO stuff for my client and one of the requirements is to get enough backlinks in 2-3 months for his website. So in order not to waste time and resources on building links in marketing avenues that don't get enough back links, I would like to ask for your advice.

I'm tasked to build links through the ff:
-directory submission
-social bookmarking
-forum posting
-article submission
-blog commenting
-social networking

Would like to know which of these make some good back links to which I'm gonna focus on my effort.

Thanks!

Use a combination of them all, except the directory submissions. Based on my experience, that time can be better spent. Directories don't help like they use to.

The others ones in your list are worth your time.

I think you should also use reciprocal links within your industry along with all of the above techniques..

Look, all of the above will give you a well rounded SEO plan to help build links. It doesn't matter whether it is directory submissions or forum posting, if any of these type of methods are not thoughtfully applied, they may not be as effective as they should be.
Above all, create great descriptions and interest and ensure your links use targeted key phrases as your anchor text.
Don't avoid doing some link building with similar industry sites as stephen186 has suggested, this is where the juice is!

You should use all them for getting backlinks but make sure that they are all do follow links. And do not forget to add anchor text whenever possible.

Building quality links is a time consuming process and it takes time to get better results. All of the above mentioned tasks must be done on a daily basis .If you are good at writing good ,fresh content then Article submission is the best option.
Commenting on blogs is well and good if it is relevant and useful.Forum postings take time as it depends on when google caches the posted page.Social bookmarking can basically only help you in getting traffic .
Social networking site like linkedin can help you in getting backlinks.Your Company profile in linkedin gets displayed in SERPs.Update your profile
Apart from these you can post press releases
participate in guest blogging
post ads in classifieds

What do you mean by "enough" backlinks? Enough for what?

See, with links, it's not so much a matter of quantity as it is quality.

Some sites simply don't have that much link value to pass. There's much more value in one link from a prominent page on, say, the New York Times' website than a thousand links from some crappy blog that nobody ever reads, much less links to.

That's the problem with most every one of the link acquisition tactics you've mentioned -- they're all relatively easy, which means the individual links will likely pass (at best) only a little link value. Meaning you'll have to get a lot of them to equal the "oomph" you could get from maybe only one or two high-quality links.

Beyond that, if the search engines have decided a site is too low-quality (spammy, engaging in black hat tactics, etc.), they may even have shut off its ability to pass link value entirely.

Unfortunately, there's no way to tell whether a site is allowed to pass link value, so you could end up wasting effort acquiring links from sites that either have no "juice" to pass in the first place, or that have "juice" but aren't allowed to pass it along.

Of course, the sites that have the ability to pass along a lot of link value usually have that ability and value because they're high-quality sites... one aspect of which is that they're generally careful about who they link out to. Meaning that it's harder to get links from them.

That's the paradox of linking: the easy links usually aren't worth that much, and the links that are worth something are often hard to get. Fortunately, when it comes to high-value links, you generally don't need zillions of them.

Have you considered finding complimentary (not competitive) businesses to your clients and contacting them directly to see if they'd be interested in either a link exchange or some other barter arrangement? Perhaps there would be some local businesses in the same town as your client who might be interested in some cross-promoting? Links from other reputable businesses will usually be more valuable both for driving quality traffic and for search optimization.

I would recommend blogging but not blog commenting if you want the most backlinks. Of course, social bookmarking is also nice for this purpose.
