Default Link Building With Social Bookmarking

Social Bookmarking is being used to promote website and get traffic to it.

I am wondering if Social Bookmarking Practice can also be counted as Link Building Strategic.

What is your experience about it? Which Social Bookmarking Sites are good for Link Building that are truly recognized by Search Engines?

I know quite a few people who deluge social bookmaking sites for backlinks. On their own they don't count for much, but when you are getting them in their 100s the link text starts to kick in. It's also a common link building technique of Indian SEO companies. It does work and it doesn't get you penalised, but of course it is pretty spammy and probably not very long-term.

yep... However, I take bookmarking as promoting my websites and to get my pages indexed faster by SEs. It's also a great way to generate good traffic to your website.

Social Bookmarking websites usually will place a no follow attribute to your link and its worthless. The magic happens when you get lots of hits through those links and 10% of the people bookmark the link or share it with other. That creates a viral affect and can bring lots of good traffic.

Don't know why all the fuss about backlinks. I can rank any website on google with top keyword content and do it 100% of the time. All I need is 20 backlicks to pull it off. As long as Google knows someone is linked to me, my websites get listed.
I have now over 100 websites ranked and over 2000 top google ranking for those websites. I try to get at least 20 keyword categories for each website I rank on google under different keyword Phrases for each website. My highest is ranked number 1 out of 1.6 Billion Pages online and my system works great.
Of coarse I am not going to share my system or info, those are my secrets on how I do this....but I am just stating that having a link farm of backlinks is silly if you want to make money online.
Every website I start and create online, I will normally try and go for only 35 Backlinks to start off the process.....normally I get ranked thenm, I do add more backlinks to my sites over the years, but only to add value to my site. And I try to get those links posted in a high PR website or blog.
Infact I own high PR ranked websites and now can post them there also and link back to my new sites. Either way it doesn't take an army of links to get ranked. I deep down feel If I have only 10 links and the highest keyword content ,the right codes and ect, my sites will get ranked in 48 hours or less
on google.

On studies I have done online, have shown a top ranked website on google, brings on 90% of my customers, back links even if I have over 10,000 on a website only brings on about 10% maybe 15% that's all at best. So high numbers of back links can not equall high rankings on Google,Yaoo and Webcrawler............and ect

The good thing about social bookmarking is that most social bookmarking sites allows you to tag your link, normally this can be counted as link building.

Social bookmarking is probably one of the best ways to build links, because you can submit all your links on one sight, and get more traffic as well. I just searched in Google to get more information about this topic and found this very useful link.

I have never really thought much about social bookmarking until recently. I wasn't aware of all the positive links you can generate...As a company, I didn't think we got much out of having such bookmarks, but I am beginning to see why it really couldn't hurt..

Very useful link elizabeth, thanks!

SMO (social media optimization) won't help in link building to an extent. Reason being:

- No anchor text for URLs
- Mostly use <no follow> tag

This my experience and opinion as well. You can get traffic spike, but it won't help Google rankings.

I haven't looked into it too much, but I do use shortened urls with my own domain name when I update my social media feeds. And I can see based on my stats that the search engines do index those shortened urls, and fast.
