Default Can Adwords Effect Organic Listing Categories?

I understand that Adwords & organic listings are supposed to be completely separate - in that buying Adwords in no way boosts your natural listing, but here's my question.

If a client were to have signed up for adult adwords (at least one of which was categorized as non-family) would this effect the way his site is perceived by Google?

I'm wondering how adult adwords fit into the whole "bad neighborhood" penalities, etc. If you are consistently bringing in traffic from bad neighbors and adult sites via the ads, does Google eventually tag your site as non-family/adult and not list it in normal searches even if there is no adult content on your site?

Exactly I don't know whether there will be effect on it or not with adult adword ads.

But I hope there will be definitely an effect on the site which is getting the traffic through adult sites....

Follow up - this is the advice that Danny Sullivan gave me:

[email protected] buying adult adwords shouldn't tag a site as adult in organic listings.

Still skeptical though... If you choose automatic placement, let Google scan & choose your network (including some pretty gross sites) and those sites run ads and you bring in searches from those ads (keyphrases turning up in your stats) how can you not be linking to bad neighbors?

In the end, I am just trying to figure out (possibly in vain) if rankings are low because of bad neighboring penalty. And if that's the case, is it possible that occurred via his choice of adwords...

Just know that google knows more than you think they do. If you are concerned that it will affect your site - change it. There are better ways.

Not MY site, I'm doing a website review. I am tracking down cause and recommending change. Wanted to make that REALLY clear. I hate adult sites & do not design them. I also do not use any form of blackhat SEO.

no they do not

There are a lot of things google could do like you describe, but it is an FCC issue. The regulations in the United States dictate that the paid advertising cannot impact organic results ... unless google labels them so.

Danny's advice is solid, as always.

Thanks Logan. I re-read my post and it sounded like I was saying Danny didn't give me good advice That's the LAST thing I meant to imply. We were twittering & I didn't have enough room to explain my whole question. I didn't mean I was looking for "good" advice (a poor choice of words) just "more advice", more explanation.

I was wondering about how purchasing adult Adwords works in light of the whole bad neighboring policy. Sorry!
