The only way I can think of is writing good content and build links back to your site from other blogs and sites. No one really knows how page rank works.Itīs also good to know that PR is just one thing Google looks at when deciding how well your site ranks in the search results.

So, even a site with PR 0 can rank better than a site that has PR 4.

Do you want to improve PageRank™ (i.e. A Google-specific number they assign to your pages based on the weight of links pointing to each page) or page rankings (i.e where your pages show up in the search results)?

If you want to improve PageRank™, the only way to increase that is to get more/better links pointing to your pages. PageRank™ is strictly a measurement of the links pointing to your pages -- how many of them there are, and how much value Google assigns to each.

But, as Tom correctly pointed out, PR™ is only one factor Google looks at to determine rankings, and it's quite easy for lower PR™ pages to outrank pages with higher PR™. Plus, it only applies to Google, so it has nothing to do with rankings in, say, Yahoo or MSN.

If, on the other hand, you're talking about increasing your page's rankings in the search results, that's a lot more complex. You need to research to determine what words and phrases searchers are using when they look for the products or services you buy. You need to appropriately incorporate these words and phrases into your code and your on-page text. And you need to get links pointing to your pages from other reputable, authoritative pages, preferably using those words and phrases in their link anchor text whenever possible.

Torka: Thanks for the clarification on pagerank and page rank. I find it amazing how many website owners are obsessed with the first when, imo, the later is what gets the sales. Guess this will always be a topic up for debate/discussion. Anyway, great explanation.

Writing and submitting articles can help both your page rank and your PageRank. When you post the article on your own site, it adds content and makes your site more interesting/valuable. When you submit your article to other sites (and include a link back to your own site in the author's resource box) you build back links from related sites.

The article itself often ranks better in the search results than your own site. Best place to submit articles to have them show in search results is EzineArticles, but make sure you read and follow their rules. Good luck!

Keep quality content on your site, and get high page rank link from relevant content.... Not necessarily to buy links, you can do this by commenting on good blogs, but make sure that you're not spamming them...

PR is basically the # of links pointing to a particular page. You want to be concerned with overall onsite SEO which would include the use of metadata, Title, Strong, H1 through H3, Content, and the older outdated SEO practices, the use of Bold and italics. These factors if used correctly can get a webpage ranking near the top of SERP.
