Default Self Serve Yogurt Shop

I have been thinking about partnering up and opening a self serve yougurt shop. This would have 6 differnt self serve machines each with 2 different flavors of yougurt per machine. Then there would be a toppings bar. The yougurt would be weighed and the cost would be per amount in the cup. These Yogurt shops are really growing on the east and west cost. Do you think this concept would go over well in a high traffic shopping center?

Hi Cohens, I think it could but a lot will depend on your location within and traffic to the shopping center. I wouldn't be concerned about the difference between your location in the midwest vs east and west coast.

Default RE: Self Serve Yogurt Shop

Hello!

That is a great idea! Where exactly are you located? Honestly, I believe that the concept would do quite well as long as you have a high traffic location and properly market/ advertise your business. I used to live in Colorado and all of our ice cream shops, etc did quite well year round.

How far along are you in your plan? Is it an idea or are you starting to make a move? The most important thing that you will need to do to ensure your success is to create a business plan with extensive market research to determine not only if there is a market for your business but also if its something that you are willing to follow through on. A well written business plan will also help your chances of securing financing either now or in the long run.

If you need any advice or just someone to bounce ideas of I would love to help!

Hi

Its something new. Success would depend on a lot of factors and you should be willing to take the risk associated with it. My suggestion would be to go for it. Good luck mate!!

Default Thanks for the information

Im still digging into the self serve yogurt concept but finding out a high foot traffic location is very costly. I have been juggling back and forth between a Liquor store and this yogurt concept. Once I decide I will go for it and not look back.

Hello! I stumbled upon this thread because I googled "Self serve yogurt in colorado". I just got back from a trip to San Diego where there are tons of these yogurt places. My friend and I went 2 times to a place called Yogurtland. It seemed to be a very popular place, and was packed both times, once late at night, and once in the afternoon. I love the concept and wish there were a self sere yogurt store in Denver. We have a yogurt shop nearby that serves only 4 flavors, and has limited toppings, it isn't self serve. We also have another yogurt place that has tart yogurt flavors, similar to Pink Berry. One place is downtown, and the other is in an area called Cherry Creek. I've been thinking about this a lot, and would love to open a place, but I'm only 20 years old, still in college, and have my heart set on doing other things with my life. I'd be thrilled though if someone else were to open a self serve yogurt place. I think the best location would be on 17th ave, which is a street close to downtown (in an area called uptown). There are a lot of trendy new restaurants on this street, and a few gay bars. It's a street with a good amount of foot traffic, and there aren't any other yogurt or ice cream places within a mile. Also, places with clean and modern decor tend to do well in Denver!

Default how to get yogurt machines

This is a very good idea. The only problem is how would you get the yogurt machines, I have been to places like this many times and they have all been successful.

Cool idea. I too wonder about the success in the midwest in general unless you are in a big enough city. High traffic spots are so over priced right now. I would think a cart that you can haul away each day? Then usually all you need is a permit and a annual fee. In a trendy high foot traffic area, like a typical hot dog stand.
