Does Link Building Help Yahoo Rankings As Well?

Hi.
One of my clients recently came up with something interesting.He has a good google rank for his site.However,the rank in yahoo is not so good.Do you think link building is going to work for yahoo as well?If not whats the way to improve the yahoo search rank.

Link building will help with all of the major search engines. You cant target just one particular search engine's though. The more you do, better off you'll be. As a recommendation, i would do daily blogs with one link of your most important key word. It may take up to 60 days before you'll see results. I have done it since the beginning of the yr, and my sales have resulted from what i've done. I got aggressive with it at times, by doing more than 2 blogs a day. That way you can have multi keywords used daily. More you get the links out there..more results you'll get.

Being ranked high on yahoo is great but in truth google matters waaaay more just because google is so popular it has actually become an acceptable term i.e. Give me a second and I'll google that.

Nobody says give me a second and I'll Yahoo that, if you get my drift. But link building always helps...though reciprocal link programs are no longer helpful in google, one way links are much more effective.

I would say that link building is critical for all the search engines, though Google is a lot more reliant. Yahoo tends to be a little more lenient in what it considers a backlink, which you can see when you use the Yahoo Site Explorer tool. Also, make sure you are doing all the on-page optimization for Yahoo as they tend to look at that more intensely.

Yes Link building does affect yahoo rankings as well. I have done huge link building for my Genetics blog and for searching "Bio Genetics" in yahoo.com, my blog bio-genetix[dot]blogspot[dot]com gets displayed on the first page

I agree with Mattcarpet, stick with concentrating on Google. Sooner or later Yahoo might catch up.

So how do you concentrate on Google alone? Isn't link building affects all search engines?

Concentrating alone for google may give you better results in other search engines. So make sure you have good content and you build some good quality backlinks and you are on the way of dominnating all search engines.

Google and yahoo have different search and rank algorithm... I feel that yahoo have domain preference for the search algorithm, and they don't mind about domain extensions, but google care about domain extensions..
