Default Our Own Facebook Experiment

We're using Facebook as a sort of adjunct to e-mail. If your business has a FB page, you can send updates to fans of your page. This dynamic strikes me as the moral equivalent of opt-in e-mail.

So, to drive folks to become fans, we run give-aways to create an incentive for sign-ups. This way, we can send permission-based updates directly to them with no possibility of errant spam complaints. They have to have given permission up front.

No real results to report just yet, but if you like free jewelry and have a Facebook account, you should become a Fan:

http://www.facebook.com/pages/German...Co/96675166209

We'll share any results as we tabulate them.

What are the criteria for the giveaways? Be careful facebook may ban you if they find out; sounds like a false promise or raffle. Accounts have been closed for simpler stuff.

You just have to become a fan of our Facebook page, and remain one at least until the time of the drawing. I will double-check the terms and conditions - I never for a moment would have guessed that this would not be permissible.

That's really nice, did you have a good response? I'm starting to convince myself that FB has really a strict policy these days. My facebook account just got disable recently, I really did not know what the problem was.

I was informed that adding a lot of friends in facebook on the same day can get you banned, anyway it seems like a good idea to join your FB community..

That is a great suggestion you have there. It’s really important to keep your Profile Page exciting on Facebook.

This is wonderful because you wouldn't be considered spamming. The users actually have to opt-in to be fan. This way, you can be sure that you are interacting and sending out information to people who are actually interested in you or your product/business. Profile pages are absolutely necessary because its how users will be able to identify with who you are and what you do. Thanks!
