Default Has Anyone Come Up With A Good Business Idea Recently?

Hi

I'm putting together a newsletter for our clients (mindsheet.biz) on "How to tell if your business idea is compelling" and I would really like some input from real life to give some examples.

If you've come up with a business idea or innovation, what were the key indicators (maybe 2 or 3) that helped you determine whether the idea was a flier or something that needed to be binned. It could be gut feel indicators or a more scientific aproach.

I'm not intending on quoting anyone directly in the newsletter, just give a flavour, but if there is something I want to use as a case study I'll contact you first to ask permission.

Thanks in advance for any feedback on this.

Yvette

Hi Yvette, welcome aboard

The three factors mentioned often are -

1) Start small
2) Do something you love
3) Do something you have experience with

I believe if you have those three things under your belt, you have a higher chance of succeeding versus if those factors are missing.

Hi Yvette,

In my opinion, to know if idea is worth to pursue it must be problem-solving thing. You can come up with an idea which is already done, but eventuelly it will have some problems, and you can add some new features to it and launch. You dont need a brilliant, unique idea, because it is almost impossible to find it these days.

As Logan said, most important 2 thing are; loving your work and knowing how to solve the problems with your tool. Loving your work is essential because without this part you will give up somewhere and it will be very boring even it will make you rich.

Good Luck!

Default Will it fly?

The best piece of advice I've ever heard about knowing whether it will fly - or if it is just your pride for YOUR idea is:
  • Don't as friends if they like it.
  • Ask if if they will invest in it.
You tend to get an idea quickly of whether it is a flop or flier. You also can fund the idea.

Exclamation Read this book

So I recently went through pragamtic marketing training for product managers and I was given this great book. (disclaimer: not affiliated in anyway)

The book called Tuned In Uncover the extraordinary opportunities that leads to business breakthroughs - talked about products that solve market problems.

The three keys to bringing a product to market that resonates are:
1. Urgent
2. Pervasive
3. Are people willing to pay

The key is taking an outside-in approach and listening to the market and solving undiscovered problems they have by interacting with new markets!

The book was a great read and very inspirational in my career. I think you will get a lot of good material out of it for your newsletter!

If anyone has a copy of this book that they no longer need, I would be interested in buying it.
