Smile Health And Fitness Ideas?

Hello everyone,

Just signed up and look foward to communicating with everyone. I am looking to start a business but not sure where to start. Hoping you guys might have some good ideas.

Fitness/health and exercise has always been a huge part of my life. I wrestled in college, have a degree in exercise science and a minor in Health and now I am an amaeture bodybuilder. I have tried personal training and did not enjoy it and the success rate of a privately owned gym is horrible especially with all the corporate gyms popping up with ridiculously cheap monthly rates.

I would like to find somthing fitness/exercise related and am leaning toward something retail as appossed to service. I have some capital and an eager and trustworthy business partner (my mother)

Just wondering if anyone has any good ideas or a spin on an already existing idea.

Thanks and have a great day!

Having experience in the industry should lead you in the right direction. I am sure you are in the gym alot and around people with similar interests. Have you asked them what they are missing in their lives? Where are they having trouble getting a need met?

You might also consider health alternatives. Lots of press about going green in your house or in your business - what about in your body.

Just some thoughts

Yeah, thats an excellent point. Green is Big right now and I have been racking my brain to come up with a "green fitness alternative" but I havent really thought about green nutrients and/or supplements. Soy protein and stuff like that has been around forever but it has never been marketed as "green".

Thanks for getting the wheels turning.

I used to have a blog about green energy and one of the things I came across was piezo electricity. It's basically energy created by pressure/movement, such as a car's cigarette lighter. Then I thought, it'd be pretty awesome if we could use that for a gym -- imagine GAINING energy by someone working out on an elliptical? Or whenever someone drops a weight on the floor, or even steps on the floor?

Anyway it's a pretty novel idea but I'm sure it'd be terribly expensive to produce. But if you've got the funds to try it out, it could become something of a sensation...

I love that idea and have thought of that myself a while back. I think you could generate a massive amount of energy every day. I think that it would take hundreds of thousands of dollars for equipment and energy conversion equipment, I dont have anywhere near what it would cost to start something like that. But I do love the idea.

Hi.

In my opinion, if fitness is your passion, you can always find a market of people who need your help. Weight loss and body improvement is a very emotional issue with a lot of people and if you can solve a specific problem and earn their trust, they will buy what you are selling.

I cannot offer a suggestion on a product without knowing more about what you are into...but I wanted to provide some encouragement so that you know I think you have a good idea.

I have a friend/associate who has been a very successful personal trainer, fitness model, etc.

We are launching a mastermind group together to help reach our goals for our latest respective business initiatives.

His business is a unique spin in personal training online. I would be happy to make an introduction to see if the 2 of you have any areas where you might be able to help each other out.

PM me for details

If fitness is your passion than why not start a gym or some sort of fitness business that also couples what you want to achieve. More and more people are looking to the fitness industry these days as we get older and, let's face facts, getting a little more round in the "love handle" areas.

Hi Timmm28,
Although there is a lot of good advise above, put a little thought into solving a problem. I understand what you're saying aboout starting a gym, but if you're talking to people at the gym or people that are involved in your market, find out what 'common problem' they have that you can solve. Typically, if you can solve a problem you will have an automatic market to sell to.

I would also seriously consider launching a website at the same time as you launch the business. The website could easily work to maintain contact with your customers but, better yet, be the best source for new leads while being very cost effective (read that as cheap) .

Good luck.
