Question SearchWiki: Will It Is The End SEO?

Though it was launched few months ago, one of the employee of Google has created a ripple in the search industry by stating the fact that getting top position in Google ranking will not be the last thing because Google will gradualy give more importance to user feedbacks...

Hey,

No, I don't think SearchWiki will kill the SEO.

Even, I think that if SearchWiki will become one of the SEO factors, then what will happen. More people that vote/rank your website higher, your overall search engine rankings will become much better without the use of SearchWiki.

Well, what do you think guys?

What if a web site voted negatively enough times this will effect your overall search engine results. No wonder it could be a new way to bring down competitor's rankings.

I don't think that searchwiki will effect the SEO. Yes, Google will give some importance to user feedbacks but it also consider all SEO factors.

Firstly, What is SearchWiki? Is it a website? If yes, what's its URL?

Secondly, How can it end SEO? And Google don't count those factors much that can be fabricated easily. They know which to give importance and which to not, as far as ranking sites is concerned.

Hi Guys

First remember that the search engines are interested in providing the most relevant results to their users... it then follows that they will block or ignore any attempts to unfairly downgrade or upgrade a site (so to speak) in the rankings...

Just my 2 cents

Justin

Just imagine a situation that some spammer started a vigorous campaign by suing searchwiki to bring down the PR of Google. Just image the dilemma of Google!!

Here's more information about SearchWiki. In a nutshell, it's a feature that Google has added for those who surf while logged in to their Google Accounts. They can reorder the search results and add comments about various sites. The reordered results are only available to them, but their comments can be viewed by others.

Well, for those who think of SEO only in terms of rankings and have never paid attention to conversions and usability and the overall value proposition their sites offer, I can see where it might be a concern.

I mean, you scratch and claw to get high rankings, and if people don't find your site useful, they can drop you down (or even eliminate you entirely) from their personal results. While it won't affect what others see, eventually it can have an effect on your traffic -- and any negative comments visitors leave can potentially affect others' attitudes toward your site and your company.

It means site owners are going to potentially have to stop paying so much attention to rankings alone, and start paying more attention to the quality of their sites.

And it means that the days may be numbered for so-called "SEOs" who offer only "increased rankings" as their sole benefit. (We can only hope...)

Google has said they aren't (right now) using SearchWiki to affect the "un-Wiki'ed" search results. But industry speculation is they might at some point in the future start taking the voting results into account. Then again, because it would be relatively easy for your competitors to try to manipulate the results, they might not.

The folks at Google are pretty good at statistical analysis. (Which is sort of like saying Warren Buffet is pretty good at making money.) I suspect before they do anything toward incorporating SearchWiki results into the standard search results, they'll have done a fair bit of homework to ensure they're filtering out obvious scams and unnatural comment/rating patterns.
