I have noticed some of the better websites as looking at there outgoing links the home page does not link to the index.Is it best to link the home tab link botton on the home page to itself?

Why would you need to link a page to itself? The purpose of a link is to take you to some other page where you aren't already. When people click on a link, they expect to go somewhere else. It is confusing when they click a link and (apparently) nothing happens -- they simply stay on the same page where they already were.

That's terrible from a usability standpoint. Confusing your site visitors is never a good idea.

That's what I was thinking, but I have seen a few sites do this when you check on there out-bound links.
