Default Display Prices Or Not To Display Prices

Hola

I have a client who sells radios and he tells me it is hard for them to give me prices for their products, now my arguement is that we are probably losing leads that come to our website as a direct result that we don't have prices, many of their competitors do show prices, so why send us an email, wait for a reply when they can just go next door (so to speak) and get the price from them and buy.

They tell me this is because a standard Motorola GP340 for example has more bits with it than just the radio, however, what about the guy that just wants that, there must be a price for it?

I have been using Alibaba along with many other ways to gain leads and despite being told Alibaba was not a great place, we do very well indeed, if it wasn't for Alibaba we wouldn't have the clientele across the world that we do now, we upgraded and pay $589 a year to advertise our products on their website.

Alibaba gives you a messenger icon that sits in the system tray and clients may IM us, I am losing many clients because they need to know the price.

Because I cannot give them a price, I lose their interest, is there somewhere I can read about prices vs no prices on a product website so I may report this back to my customer and in turn show him why we are losing sales just because we don't have prices.

I have also told my client that we cannot enter into online shopping websites because we don't have prices so this is also losing us valuable marketing options because we cannot advertise on the mainstream shopping websites, majority don't allow without pricing - for obvious reasons.

Cheers

When I added detailed pricing for my Wedding Hourglasses several months ago I noted an immediate surge in orders. Before making that change it was necessary for a customer to wait for emailed information. I still communicate directly with customers in order to fine tune details for personalization.

People shopping on the internet, while not necessarily impatient, expect to receive information fast.

If you do not give them the information that they seek before they find it on a competitors site you may find that it is too late for you more times than not.

Tom

I think it's important to list prices. With so many websites designed to scam consumers, they are very weary about ordering from sites without prices. That's usually a sign the site may not be legitimate. My suggestion is list your price upfront and people will be a lot more receptive to what you are selling.

You should always post prices for the products that you offer especially on the internet. By not posting the price, shoppers wonder what your trying to hide, or assume that your price is more than they are willing to pay. Even if you are higher that the competition you can still sell products for a premium if you market them to the right audience.

Default Prices

I do a lot of shopping online. If I am looking for a product, I find the website, with it, and do my research. I compare prices and also shipping rates. If I do NOT see prices and have to fill in a form and wait for someone to get back to me, chances are when the do, I will have bought the iteam already.

If you have something for sale, you have to know what you want to sell it for, so why hide that info from the buyer?

I was searching for wood floor cleaner last month, and I wanted a certain brand. What I found is 4 or 5 DIFFERENT prices for the same product. I also found the lowest price was not always the best, as if you picked that, they tacked on outrageous shipping making it much higher than the one on another site that was higher priced for the articles.

IF a site does NOT ahve prices and/or shipping information, in my book they are loosing MANY sales.

That's my 2 cents for what it's worth. Do I get change?

You should display the price on the site. While doing online shopping most people compare the prices. You should provide the all information which is needed. This will help you get more sales leads.

The second most popular page on our small business debt collecting site is the pricing page. People want to know.

Why don't you test and measure the results - it's easy enough to do.

Cheers

Pete

Hi!
I sincerely think that its better to put pricing on the website. As a customer, if I visit a site with no pricing, even if I like a particular item, I may have to ask someone via email about the price of the item. However in other case, instead of asking about the price, I will straight away book my order because I already know how much it is going to cost me.
Isn't it great to put pricing as it also helps people to make up their mind fast?

Regards

If he can't give an exact price, maybe at at least a ballpark or "starts at" price? Or maybe he could do a product selector with all the options to calculate a price? Or he could do a live chat to discuss the price with a person online? I do agree however, that people need the most information possible up-front to make their purchasing decisions.

If he sells the same sort of stuff as his competitors, and the competitors are showing prices, he needs to show prices, too. People tend to jump to conclusions, and they'll assume the reason he isn't showing prices is because he's more expensive.

If he's not more expensive, showing prices will demonstrate that. If he is more expensive, showing prices will give him an opening for justifying the higher prices (better/more convenient service, more features, a stronger warranty, etc.). Without the prices, people will simply click away.

If it's hard for him to show prices, it must be equally hard for the competitors, but they seem to be managing...
