Default Help With Forum Member Subscription Services

I am currently building a site and am waiting to launch/publish the site for a couple months and am wanting to just get everything done and coded before launch, including getting aMember up and going and tested prior to releasing my site. Is it possible to get all this done and tested without publishing my site? I'm using the feature for the members section of my site. I have my domain and site and everything, just waiting until I have everything ready.

I need to know how to code or install the paid forums (I am using aMember Pro for the members section of the site) into my website so that I can make money. The instructions on Installation step 3 have me going to http://www.yoursite.com/amember/setup.php and I am unable to do that until I actually publish the site.

I need to know 2 things:
1) Is there a way around it? Can I do it without publishing the site?
2) Why do I have to publish it before it will work?

My boss will not allow me to publish the site before it is completely finished.

I am using a site building program and am trying to get this done completely prior to publishing the site for the world to see.

Any relevant help would be appreciated.

Why don't you just publish the site and then rename your index file (home page) something like index-hold.html - or delete the index file after publishing. No one will have access to the files in the subdirectory. When you are done configuring the site and ready to launch change the name of your index file back to the original name or reload.

Site building programs are all different, so it would be hard to answer your questions more specifically.

aMember didn't work for me. I am looking for some kind of program that I can use to create subscriptions for the paid forums part of my site. (Paid forums meaning people pay a set fee to view each specific forum separately.)there are four separate paid forums at separate prices each.

Hi!

I'm have no technical know-how but i have a suggestion!

Why not use paypal?

Here's how it goes. You set passwords for the paid parts of the forum. So when people pay, you can send them to the page. If I'm not wrong, paypal has a function that allows you to send the people to a "thank you" page or something.

Then at the "thank you" page you can put the password for the part of the forum the person paid for. So he can access the forum =)

Remember to put a sign-up area for the forum so that people who have no account can sign-up on the spot!

How does that sound to you?

All the best,
Zack
