Backlinks And Other Search Engines

Hi all,

We know that backlinks affect google pagerank, which in turn affects your ranking in google search.

Now my query is, how much emphasis do other search engines put on backlinks? Do search engines like yahoo, msn, ask.com also use backlinks as an indicator?

As far as I know SERP and PR are different things and they do not depend on each other

Yes, Yahoo and MSN for sure. I currently have a project underway building text anchor links and I can watch my rank improve on these search engines as the links are built.

Thanks for the replies. I do believe that other major search engines also take into account the backlinks, but how much emphasis on it we would not know.

yeah off course every search engine cares about link popularity But all have Different algorithm to Check that which link will boost your serp ranking .

When you do a business profile on our website you get a "follow" backlink provided you are a good legit company. Google now wants us to freely link quality sites without doing page rank sculpting as they encouraged in the past.. So now we have taken the nofollow out of the code and so far we have been moving up in the SERP's

- Articles submission (use software)
- Squidoo
- Hubpages
- Videos (again, you can use softwarae)
- internal page linking
- Niche forums

I think all search engines weigh backlinks as the most important factor in SERP. IMO.
