I know what spam is it is selling products like viagra etc
via email unbenounced to it's receiver. AND I DONT WANT TO SPAM
But if i am a legitimate business (and i am freelance graphic designer) and i want to notify people of my service then can't I gather together a list of emails from businesses send them out (via email) and at the end of the letter state something to the effect of if you want off my list or want to unsubscribe reply to my email and say i want off your list ? And the people who do not reply to be taken off my list continue, to send them a follow up email ?

Spam isn't the product your promoting, it's the method in which you promote it. If someone signed up to receive information about viagra, then the message they receive from that company about that product is legitimate email.

You can develop a list from your site by using verified opt-in method (Also called double opt-in method)

Yes. You have to keep unsubscribe link at the end of email to give your subscriber an oppurtunity to get off of your list.

Yes. Who will stay on your list will continue to receive your emails.

Boomer explained it very good.Spamming is sending people information about something they have not requested, mostly used in email marketing.

grafikrtist, you are on target with permission based email marketing. Theres a lot of software and solutions for this.
