Default I Need SEO Help!

So I'm trying find someone who can help me with SEO. The problem is:

1) I don't know what exactly I need
2) I don't know how to price SEO services, thus I don't know a good deal from a bad deal
3) I'd appreciate any help or recommendations to cheap qualified people

Also what are the little things I can be doing on my own that are highly recommended? The more specific the better.

Thanks

Hi, First do a search on google for 'searh engine optimization'. You will see whole lot of information.

Start with -

* Good titles for your pages
* Metatags
* Clean navigational bar (no javscript etc). Text lnks. (preferably with a key word in them)
* Good internal linking between web pages.
* A sitemap.xml to submit to google
* Constant content update around your niche like your articles, your blog etc.
* MOST IMPORTNT: Try to get some backlinks to your site.

Start above > you will find your way

spend a few hours on this site and other forums and start to learn the `common' elements that define a good SEO page to a bad SEO page, apply your new found knowledge and if you dont receive the results you desire then perhaps contact a reputable SEO company ie one that can demonstrate continued SEO success for their clients

Thanks for the suggestions, I've realized that there's pretty much no way to get around it but to start reading and commenting on blogs. I guess I have to try my best to learn SEO first or I'll just be throwing money away to consultants.

Hmm...I'll have to disagree with your comment about "throwing money away to SEO consultants". While some website owners may be somewhat successful in learning and executing SEO strategies and techniques on their own, turning over these time-consuming duties to experts is a very wise investment. Think of your investment in an SEO like hiring an inexpensive salesperson. After a few months of ramp-up time, your "salesperson" will be bringing opportunties to your door consistently. Assuming your website (and you) are able to close deals, it shouldn't take long for you to not only cover your investment, but consistently turn your dollar into two or three (or more).

Good luck regardless!

Thanks for your comment Brody. My question then is how do you effectively price the service if you don't have any idea about what you need as well as cost? How do I decide what's a good deal?

What site are you looking to promote? Is it the one in your signature?

I am not touting for your business, I just don't want to waste time posting about the wrong site

Yes, I'm looking to promote Jippidy.com. I've learned that its not just "if you build it, they will come" and I need to do more.

Default Agree With the Above, but

Unless you are going to get some great help with links, you will struggle in your new space to get national ranking for your category. Lots of folks are competing.

I use other methods to drive traffic and create visibility. Check out Marketing Consultant Culver City and you will see my blog, my website, my videos all in the top 25. The website is only 4 weeks old. Some in the top 10. Go guerrilla. The standard approaches are too slow.

Some of my ideas I give away for free on my blog and in YouTube Videos. Check those out.

Go by recommendation. If you know someone who used a service before and was happy with the results, then maybe you can try the same service provider.
