Default How Does A Recession Effect Sales?

Ok I'm looking at buying a clothing business already put together and selling clothes.

My biggest concern right now is the economy and how it relates to the sales of clothing goods.

I know not all sectors are affected but it will cut down on everybodies spending.

Can someone give an average percentage of sales lost during economic slowdowns? I mean just a little or enough to have to sell the store that doesent profit well in the first place?

It completely depends on the marketing that is already in place and what you can initiate quickly to develop a lead list that you can market to. If you can capture the current client base while you go through the transition - you might be able to pick up market share depending on the local economic climate and your competitors' abilities to react to the changing economic conditions.

There are tons of ways to effectively market a brick and mortar business through traditional and online marketing techniques and I do believe that the best bet for marketing is guerrilla techniques that focus on value to the customer and buzz for you!

When spending is down people will continue to buy what they need and what they value...if you deliver the value through service, selection or some other unique quality you can attract loyalty and enable follow up and upsell plans.

It's really not difficult to make a big impact with a small budget but it has to be impeccably planned for maximum effect.
