Commas In "keywords" META Tag
I've heard both... was hoping someone could speak to which is best. I'm curious about how to write the "keywords" meta tag.
<meta name="keywords" content="keywords,listed,with,commas,and,no,space" />
<meta name="keywords" content="or, keywords, with, commas, and, a, space" />
Should I use a space with no comma, commas and no space, both?
Thanks!

Hi James, i do not think any major search engine considers the meta keyword tag. But nothing wrong with including it, if you want to take the time - just don't have expectations that it will impact your rankings.
As a general rule of thumb, my understanding is to use either commas or no commas between your keywords but not both. There is not an advantage of one over the other, and the search engines will recognize either way. So just choose which ever way you prefer and then stick to it.
Personally, I use commas between keyword phrases that I want to target.

I agree with Logan that the meta keywords tag is pretty much useless these days. I still use it, mostly for nostalgic reasons, but I don't think it has any influence on ranking. I prefer the format without commas, basically just a space-separated list of keywords, like
<meta name="keywords" content="forum small business ideas keywords no commas just spaces" />
But it's really just a matter of personal preference. I've never seen any evidence that it makes a difference to the search engines, not even in the old days when they still paid attention to the keywords.

I believe Yahoo still recommends using commas, for what that's worth. But I usually don't.

I am not quite sure if keywords are important or not.... I believe that if they are targeted and proper for the content of the page, they do matter.
Personally I use commas and no space -- hope that helps.

Actual keywords are important.
The keyword meta tag, on the other hand, is most definitely not.

Use the metatags with commas. The algorithms do not use them at this time but may in the future.

there is no right or wrong. In fact the keyword tag hardly matters.
