I am drawing up a business plan and need to figure into it product liability insurance as a annual expense. My product is a food (non-restaurant, non-retail) catering type item. I will be operating in Manhattan, NYC.

Does anyone have advice about which are the best providers for my line of business in the tri-state area?

Product liability is pretty much a part of all business insurance these days. With most basic policies there will be a coverage say to $ 100,000 and then most small business policies also have a $ 1,000,000 ballon that will catch anything, including product liability.

You best bet is to talk to some commercial insurance brokers who represent several lines and see what they can offer. Avoid the "retail" car / home / life guys, get with someone who specializes in business insurance.
