Post Google Announce Third-party Advertising On Adsense Network

Quote:
Introducing third-party ads on the Google content network

The Google content network now accepts display ads served from qualified third-party vendors. Third-party ad serving has been a longstanding request from top brand AdWords advertisers who use third parties to create and manage their online campaigns. Initially, we will be only accepting third-party ads in English, but we hope to expand to other languages soon...

Nah, I think it is a bit cryptic also. Here is my understanding, although I am not positive yet.

Basically it means that in addition to serving ads from AdWords within Adsense publisher sites, Google now will also be including in that mix "display ads" from third party advertising companies.

Here is a list of third party advertising companies -

Not sure, but I'm guessing since Google just bought DoubleClick that this is a move to get those advertisement included within their advertising distribution channels - in this case adsense publishers.

To adsense publishers, this applies if your ads are setup to include images already. If you have settings for text only ads, then this will not be factored in. Another reason to accept image ads, imo.

I'm not exactly sure, but what I assume it means is that instead of Google serving up ads they' chosen themselves, they're allowing 3rd parties access to these ad spots to serve up themselves. The implications may be bigger ad variety, and more competitive earnings on the part of publishers (but who knows - the finance end is all a black box).

One thing that's changed is in the channels settings dialog, they allow you to open up individual channels for 3rd party bidding...

Logan beat me to it.

They did say that image ads will automatically serve 3rd party ads, however I'm not sure how that channel bidding business ties in...
