Default Setting Up A Blog

I am looking into creating a blog for a Canadian company and I have no idea where to get all the info I need. I need to know approx set up costs, monthly costs, can you set up rules for privacy, how do you arrange it for members only to register, possible advertising space etc. I need to know everything. Can someone help me or direct me to a website / company that has all this info, thanks!!!

There are many ways to get started in blogging.

Both blogger and wordpress are great programs, that are easy to use.

I'd suggest you get started by simply typing this term into Google and seeing how much information you get:

"How to start a blog"

If you need any specific help, don't hesitate to ask.

Keep in mind too that with WordPress there is a "widget" or "plugin" for just about any feature you can imagine. I would think other blogging platforms are similiar (Typepad, etc.) but I've not used them as extensively as I've used WP.

Good luck!

I'd try using a free hosted wordpress or blogger solution before getting too invovled. You'll figure out pretty quickly whether or not you have the time involved before expending any money.

Blogging is an art, A blog reveals a lot about the blogger. Wordpress now have very attractive dashboard, but their plugging requirements seems a real nuisance at times.

Hi to fellow canuck :-)
Don't even think of using a blog platform that is not selfhosted . Get some hosting. It is dirt cheap and blog is dead easy to set up. Use wordpress, its free and fabulous.

About a zillion sites that tell you how to set up- including mine :-)

Wordpress is best of all worlds. Easy to use, good interface, most complete stats and referrals.
I read somewhere that said Blogger was a good basic place to start your blog, but that it wasn’t the full featured solution. I think that they are working to change that.

I am using a general blog host because it keep the bandwidth low. (half-kidding) but i would recommend that you take a look at other organizations in you field for ideas. It should cost you almost nothing but a few overtime commitments to get things rolling right. You can start anyplace that you want to but you also get the privilege of setting your level of commitment too! Sometimes that might change, however, unless your needs are really user intensive (or the flipside) then go easy on it.

my two cents.
