Default New Here And Need Help In “Natural SEO”!

I own and operate two sites for fun. If possible I may be able to get a business' to place ad's on my site. Like I said these sites are for fun not profit. I want to get more members though. How do I get my sites to pull in more members with search engines. Are there any tricks you could show an average person to make their site more visible. I have been able to figure out quite a bit from hands on experience as far as operating the sites goes. I thought it might be more than I could handle but sar far so good. Thanks ahead of time for any help you may be able to give.
Thanks again

If you want to pull members from SEO first your site must be visible from SEO's. You can target a particular keywords and optimize your site on it. You can learn a lot from these forum on how to do that but it takes time.
I also suggest you a site called Affordable Search Engine Optimization, This site can help you a lot..
Goodluck and welcome!

Hi Brian - what do these two sites do and what are their URLs? That might help us come up with a few ideas. The sig one above is a very good place to start though (once you're clear what the key terms are that you want to be found on in the search engines).

If you optimize the content and work on building lots of back links, you'll help your site out in the search engines.

Part of SEO that people don't mention a lot is the age of the domain and the site itself. Google penalizes sites that are newer, so if you are competing with older, established sites you have your work cut out until your sites are over a year old.

With that said here is what I view as the top 5 things to do:

1) Appropriate title tags
2) Content text (with your keywords)
3) Backlinks with keywords
4) Content links (on your own site)
5) Unique meta tags and descriptions on each page

Great advice, all, thanks! I hear a lot about "optimize your content," can you elaborate a little. If I were looking to do this, how would I start?

Brian, let's set up a signature to start creating backlinks. I've seen this as a powerful help with our site. Can we see the URLs, perhaps some of the experts here can offer up advice if they see what you're looking to optimize.

Good luck!

James, there are many SEO techniques for optimizing content within your site and these techniques are arguably the most important "on-page" optimization tactics that you can do. Here's a quick list of techniques that can be done:

1. Keyword integration within your page content. Most search engine algorithms take keyword density into consideration. They want to see your specific keywords integrated within your content at a certain frequency (normally 4-6%).

2. Amount of content - A page without many words will always struggle to get high rankings. 200 to 300 words per page is a good rule of thumb.

3. HTML tags that add emphasis - Search engines pay special attention to content that is within heading tags (<H1>, <H2>, etc.), bold tags (<b>, <strong>) and link tags (<a>). Developing your page content to use these tags and integrate keywords within these tags will definitely help your SEO efforts.

There are plenty of other techniques, but those three should keep you busy for a while...

Google's Adsense program would be a good way to start out with ads...
