Default New Article - Pursuing Copyright Infringers

Full Text: http://www.searchengineguide.com/cla.../0517_sc1.html

Some Snippets:

"As a website owner, if you find your copy on multiple sites without the proper credit, it makes YOU look like a possible copyright violator as well. "

"Google Alert is a free service that monitors the search phrases of your choice (up to 3) and sends you an e-mail when it finds new pages containing that phrase. Their paid version allows for more search queries and deeper results returned. It works so well, you'll be amazed at where your humble copy turns up. "

Good article.

Something else that I personally encountered was finding copies of my website (the very first version) on other websites with the hosting company that I orginally signed up with. This was when I first launched my site. It lasted just over a month with them before having to change. It mainly seemsed that the problems I encountered were hosting errors on the hosting company part, but there's still one that I'm checking into.

I tend to update/change the content on the main pages abit so when using some programs such as copyscrape, it wasn't finding anything as the majority of the main content pages were different by then. Hopefully googlealrert.com will be better in helping me search the net for my content/pages where ever they may be.

Fun Stuff

I do the same thing using Google Alerts (from Google). Anytime I summit an article I create an alert for the title. Google will search both news and/or web. After testing Google Alert, I really don't see much difference between this and Google Alerts, except that I can sign up at Google and set up as many alerts as I want for free.

Anybody else see a potential name infringement lawsuit here? Awfully similar in name to Google's service.

Wow, I guess I really wasn' t paying too much attention until I read this from St0n3y:

I had to go back and read through the whole thread before I realized that Google Alert and Google Alerts are not one and the same. I already use Google Alerts and just wonder how many have gone to Google Alert and not noticed their small disclaimer about not being part of Google.

This is definitely another example of how important it is to secure not only your domain name, but others that are similar to it.

Seeing that you have to pay for the alerts (from googlealert.com) if you want more than three checked, I'm sure Google will eventually do something about it seeing that you can get free google alerts from Google themself.

The website was registred on March 11, 2003 so it seems that they were there first. I also remember within the past few weeks hearing Google suing Froogles.com (I think thats the url) and they lost. The little guy won becuase he registered the domain name before Froogle was started. I'm not sure of the exact details, but this seems a lot simliar with the whole alert thing.

Should be interesting I say.

Default Graphics in Google

We want our graphics to be found in Google ( we love Google!) but unfortunately some people just want to steal our graphics to use on their site using OUR bandwidth! Does anyone know how to allow Google to index the images yet not allow people to steal them (other than putting a long string of "no right click" on each image)?

Thanks,
Tas for Grinning Planet

Default GoogleAlerts.com Redirecting To GoogleAlert.com

After reading all this I brought up the http://www.googlealerts.com and http://www.googlealert.com

For me, at this time, GoogleAlerts.com is redirecting to GoogleAlert.com

Could be related to this info I ran across yesterday about domain poisoning:

Looks to me more like www.googlealerts.com is a legitimate redirect for the new googlealert service. Google's official Alerts can be found at www.google.com/alerts. But the article you pointed to was interesting just the same!
