Hi, I'm Gery, English, living in Italy where I work as a translator. I'm just beginning to take my first wobbly but determined steps in the world of online business and I can say that by far the biggest difficulty I have is focusing on one thing at a time when I am constantly being bombarded with multitudes of irresistible offers of cheap or free 'shortcuts to success'. Anyone have any words of wisdom on this?

The usual advice of 'if it sounds too good to be true, it probably is' applies to online marketing, just as it does to many other things. The best thing to do is to research someones claims, and if still in doubt, ask on the boards if anyone has any experience with a particular company / tactic.

Welcome. There are no quick fixes, and the get rich quick schemes only make the vendor rich as they prey on the innocent. Anything you see that doesn't involve effort isn't worth it.

Slow and steady wins the race, and it's not a race anyway.
