Default Don't Write That Proposal Until You Ask The 'Magic Question"

Maybe you shouldn't write the proposal?

"So what is this 'magic question'? When someone asks you to write a proposal (or give a presentation), just reply with this question "Imagine that you've read my proposal and, without doubt, the solution proposed is a perfect fit for what you want then what will happen next?"

I couldn't agree more - I have often wasted my time, and my teams time preparring a proposal - only to find out afterwards that I had wasted everyones time.
Never a truer word has been written - I have printed this out and stuck it in the front of our proposal file for any and all of our team to read before they take another step.
