Default Tips On Finding Good Affiliates?

We have had an affiliate program for years now, first with 25% fixed comission and now with 40% fixed comission. We get a lot of new affiliates (the program is handled by ShareASale.com) but most of them are simply not doing anything, no clicks, no sales.

So, do you run an affiliate program? Do you have tips on how to get good affiliates to join your program?

People are lazy. That's why so few succeed in building a home business. You have to find people who have a passion for having more in life. It also helps if they believe in your product

Default How To Use Affiliate Marketing To Build Your Business

Affiliate marketing is a powerful tools is used correctly. Most marketers use affiliate marketing to offset advertising cost they're already spending in PPC, adwords, etc. A good affiliate program should offer a few things needed to benefit both the advertiser and the prospect:

1. The program should offer "how to" information on how to really grow a business or how to drive more traffic to a particular website. One thing that's certain for sure is more people on the internet who have a business are trying to get more traffic to their websites. Why not offer a e-book of some sort on how to do just that.

2. The program should offer good commissions for each sale. This is very important depending on how much you are spending right now in your advertising efforts. The key is to offset your advertising cost by your affiliate commissions thus leaving you even all around in your business. And again in order to make the back-end profits there has to be a high conversion rate, thus meaning more traffic that you will have to drive to your website.

3. The program needs to be duplicatable and automatic. You need a way to contact your prospects to begin building a relationship with them. In the meantime, you should have a series of auto-responder messages going out to them about marketing techniques, business building tips, etc. With these three elements combined, there's no reason why an affiliate program like this wouldn't create a solid residual income for you.

Hope this helps...

Waiting for it to happen isn't the answer. No one is going to come by and make you rich, even if you are generous. I think you have to actively recruit, just like you would hire a sales force.

Can you identify who some of the top affiliate producers are, and then approach them and try to build a relationship one by one?

You may also want to consider some of those that have signed up. Contact them and take a survey to see if there are things you can do to encourage more sales. Just contacting them, as that can make an impression, might be one of things to include.

How are you advertising your program. Just putting it in a network will not get you top affiliates. It is not different than launching a site. Just submitting it to a search engine will ot get you traffic. Try some PPC ads for your product with the words "affiliate program" in the ad copy. Submit to social sites but clearly promote your program. Do you have a profile on MySpace?? Do a press release to PRWeb at the $200 level and you can get a backlink per every 100 words.

How many products do you have. If you have quite a few products and you have not uploaded a datafeed, then I would suggest for you to try uploading a datafeed and then see if your affiliate's sales improve.

I'm thinking of including an affiliate scheme in a business I'm planning at the moment. I will restrict membership to people who already have a business serving my target market.

I don't know how well this will work but from what I understand it can't be worse than having an open scheme.

Cheers

Pete

We only have one main product and two secondary products, so we don't have a datafeed.

Default You get what you deserve

If you want good affiliates on your team then you have to earn that privelege. A strong team made up of motivated affiliates usually says alot about the team leader. Our business is not about promoting program A or program B, but about building long term relationships with people. Opportunities come and go, but relationships can last a lifetime. If an affiliate believes in you as a sponsor, then you have the makings of a good affiliate. That person will share openly and honestly with you, and if you offer that person the same in return, then you have a coachable partner. Do you notice how the words experience and knowhow are not mentioned.

Your attitude is everything. If you believe that 98% of affiliates are lazy, then you will be proven right. 98% of your affiliates will be lazy when it comes to working with you.

So in short, what do I look for in an affiliate? I look for someone who is willing to listen and is willing to share. That person will expect and receive the same from me in return. The rest are details that fall into place in due course.
