Default Sammy Hagar's Tequila Dreams

Okay, this isn't exactly a small business profile but Sammy Hagar is one of my favorite singers (he never needed Van Halen in my opinion). He got an idea and did it his way and didn't give up even though he lost money for years and everyone told him it was a bad idea. And he did bring business to a small town.

Default Great READ!!

Hey Guys don’t let the title keep you from reading this story….. It’s really good……. It’s more than Rock sells booze and makes money… He had a dream and stayed with it……… And he did it “My Way” ( sorry Frank)

This is a really inspirational story of how Sammy Hagar - formerly the lead singer of Van Halen - opened a small bar in Mexico 15 years ago, which eventually turned into a major $60 million corporation.

Definitely worth a read if you've got a few free minutes to get inspired and motivated.

Excuse my ignorance - my hed was buried in my business for 18 years - but did this guy have a lot of money and was he a "star" that used his fame to help his business?
If so, I submit that isn't really the type of business model/path most of us will follow. Sort of like Bill Gates starting a business - he has enough money that almost anything he starts will do well - remember when Word came out and starting beating WordPerfect in the marketplace -and WP was a much better program at that time. You really do not want to be in the path of a sleeping bear when he wakes up. Someone once told me at a seminar that they would invest in any company that was started by a talk show host - referring to the just announced contract Dr. Phil had for his soon to be aired talk show.
That is just not reality for almost everyone.

Good luck.

Stan
