Authored by: Lisa Barone

Full Text: http://www.searchengineguide.com/barone/009492.html

A Snippet:

Keyword research is a vitally important aspect of your search engine optimization campaign. If your site is targeting the wrong keywords, the search engines and your customers may never find you, resulting in lost dollars and meaningless rankings.

good article.

Another brainstorming tool I've used recently is Visual Thesaurus. It's a fee based software tool (they do have a free trial) that gives you word maps (kind of like mind maps) to help you think of other keyword possibilities.

Keywords should always be in our minds to have an efficient searching on any sites we want. Topics we wanna surf should be accompanied by a specific keywords for an easy search in the net.

Thanks for a very informative topic you have. Gonna make more sharings then

So far, keywords are our key in searching.

Default RE: Keyword research

Hi Lisa,

Thank's for this great article.

I was wondering what the real value is of the "search popularity" value given by the conventional keyword research tools? Should I really take this into account seriously when evaluating keywords/keyphrases?

Everybody is full of long tail keyphrases now (me too) however most of the time I really don't get a search value for the popularity when using free or paid keyword research tools for these specific keyphrases. I think because most of these tools don't really take long tail into account? Nevertheless, these specific keyphrases really make sense for my client.

What do you think?

Regards,

Tom

Default compare keyword tools

Keyword research is so important to the success of any campaign. I've spent so much money on keyword research tools over the years with my clients.

The free Google Adwords Keywords tool that you mention is actually one of the best, because you can see Google's search volume for each keyword.

Capturing the head of the traffic where the volume is high certainly helps when you are first launching a campaign.

I've created an affiliate site that compares all the keyword tools I've purchased over the years. If you are interested, the comparison page is:

keywordresearching.com/compare.php

(I hope that's not against the TOS to post. I think it's of value to readers because I've interviewed several of the makers of the keyword tools and along with my own research, compiled the chart).

Default Nice reminders!

Very nice reminders in this article. I especially like the idea of creating a list and checking it twice.

As far as tools go, in addition to the ones you mentioned:
1) I like scrap paper (for scribbling down ideas),
2) Wikipedia, and
3) The "related searches" at the bottom of the page on a Google search.

Thanks for the article,
Brook
