Default How Do You Develop A Social Media Strategy?

Social media is getting more popular nowadays.
Currently, I'm retweeting, buidling wiki links and doing more press releases. But I wonder if there are any other methods that will work as well.

Thanks

Yes, instead of submitting our site in article list, directories, social bookmarking, We need to go on with social media strategies like twitter, facebook, digg, delicious etc. We need to build 100% complete profile in social media sites that really helps in SEO. Also while building company page in those websites we can add our site links.

First try to build genuine profile and comment on few profile and build your community. Then naturally you will be very much benefited by the social media sites.

Other than that:
- Join and participate in related online forums and communities
- Comment niche related blogs
- Invite bloggers to guest post on your blog
- Build a strong social networking profile and keep it active
- Share posts/ news/ hot deals on social media platforms frequently
- Submit your website URLs to popular social bookmarking
- Add RSS feeds to your website

All previous comments are pretty good. You might also find an article I wrote some time ago on best practices for social media useful. Here is the link...

1- Be Human: People buy from people they like.Don't do spamming on Linkedin groups or other platforms
2- Add Value: As we all about sales is about relationships. Render interests facts or useful information that your users are looking for.
3- Interact: Create a discussion to build trust and a relationship with your contacts.

Sounds like a solid start, but of course there's a lot more room to grow and expand. Here's a great article to give you an idea of just what social media marketing entails and how you can manage to control it to your advantage. http://www.sbtelegram.com/2012/09/14...-social-media/

Hi there, One thing I would add though is that it is essential that every social media strategy/plan must get key stakeholder buy-in. Social media cuts across so many different departments within organisations (customer relationships, marketing, HR, IT to name a few) that for it to be seen as simply an adjunct to the marketing department is the sort of error that could result in the plan being unsuccessfully implemented. Once all the stakeholders (and/or staff) appreciate the value of social media and how it can help develop & enhance their company's business objectives, this will make the implementation of any strategy very much easier. What do you think?

In my experience, product giveaways or discounts are a great way to build initial social media attention for a brand. Once your customer-base gets used to engaging with the brand through social media through these giveaways- you have the ability to get much more creative and fun with your strategy.
