Default QR codes are very benefical

QR codes can be used in a variety of ways; as we see Billboards, on grave stones (accordingly to the latest article on the Huff Post), on products, and so forth. Mashable shows various interesting ways the QR is being used by commercial business http://mashable.com/2012/01/14/qr-code-marketing/

I think if you are small business the code should always be on all of your media.

HI,

Yes, they work great for getting people do something on the spot. For example, we mainly help small businesses use QR codes for helping local businesses to convince their customers to review their business online. Here are some review us on google QR codes that you can print out that we find work very effectively.

Jeff

QR codes can be useful even if a lot of people don't have the app or the smart phone to scan them. Still, a large population will scan them if they see something like "scan this to receive the latest promos"

It's best to use a QR code in places where you've already created some level of engagement and want to provide more information or a deeper level of engagement.

Putting it on everything you do is probably a bit of a stretch (e.g. you wouldn't want a QR code for Google reviews on your advertising materials where people haven't even used the product yet), but the right QR code in the right place can have a strong effect.

Default Yes, agreed about the QR Codes

I just had new b-cards printed for both of my businesses placing the QR codes on the back of the cards. There tons of ways you can utilize the QR to enhanced your business offering. Mashable posts creative ways. I think it is a very valuable tool, not to mention it is on billboards, buses, everywhere.

I know with real estate agents they work really well. Especially, if you get a QR code linking to a video tour of a home and then put that qr code on the for sale sign. Just tell people to scan it for a free video tour of them home. It works great.

QR codes do work. I know you have heard that it's not an effective marketing strategy. But those are just mere claims. They actually have no proofs. What's true is this: QR codes, when combined with printed materials can increase customers interaction. And you know how important that is in business. Check this post out for more on that: Printed Media + QR Codes

Personally, I think the QR code fad has already come and gone. The initial surge in usage was mainly due to the fact that people were amazed at the technology. Now that consumers are used to it it's on to the next form of technological marketing.

I think geography is important, awareness of QR codes is still not all that high amongst many people in the UK, and sometimes it's industry dependent, like tech and media/creative firms have been using them for ages but everyone else was much slower on the take up.

If you were doing a campaign in central London on the tube I think it's worth it; people are in a hurry so it's functionality is useful, huge numbers of a wide diversity of people including many "early-adopters" like media/tech/students use the tube etc. By comparison if you run it in rural Yorkshire you'll get a really poor response.

On the whole I think they need to be used a bit more creatively, there is a fad where people bung on a QR code that just links to their website, if that's all you get people will stop using QR codes. Meanwhile various bands have linked them into MP3 downloads and things like that, if QR campaigns consistently offered something interesting it can become an ongoing and very useful marketing technique.
